Irish Coffee With The Boys, Amy's Story

Irish Coffee With The Boys, Sportmen's Lodge
Studio City, C.A. 8-22-03

Irish Coffee With The Boys was a fan event hosted by Michael and Thorsten Kaye on the afternoon of August 22, 2003. It was also the first of 4 PC related events I'd attend during the bittersweet final PC fan club weekend :(( (the other 3 being the fanclub luncheon, Brian Gaskill's event, and Brian and Erin Presley's event). Irish Coffee was a great way to kick off the weekend! I actually watched that day's PC episode in the hotel room, then went down to the meeting room for the event that afternoon!

The event was great! It was smaller, and setup so the guys would visit each table individually. On the tables they had mugs filled with candy as favors (I still have 2 of them, one still with the candy still in it unopened!). Everyone came in and sat down and talked and then finally Michael and Thorsten came out. It was very obvious right from the start what great friends these 2 guys were! They talked and laughed and joked nonstop! They did a Q&A, which was very open, especially about PC's cancellation. I wish I could remember all that was said! They did a live auction after that, where one of the hot items was a PC Tainted Love t-shirt. That t-shirt ended up being one of the items to win over the course of the whole weekend--every PC related event, that shirt went sky high in bidding! After the auction and Q&A, the guys started around the room for autographs and pictures. My table was kind of in the middle, and it'd be a bit before either guy reached me, since they both graciously took time with each fan individually at the tables, even sitting down at times with them. I went to look for Tina, since I knew she'd be attending, and we planned to meet up. This was the first time we met up at an event since knowing each other, and the first of us being partners in crime! :)) I visited with Tina for a bit, then got back to my table since I saw Thorsten was almost there. I got back and was sitting, getting my stuff together, and talking to a tablemate who I found out was a friend from a PC message board I was a regular on. Next thing I know, Thorsten is at our table and getting to me, smiling and he said Hi to me, like he recognized me (I had met him a couple times prior) and then told me to GET UP!!! (in a complete joking tone) for a picture, so we took our pic and he signed the mug they had on the table. Before Michael got to my table, Tina came over to be my picture taker when Michael got there. Michael eventually got there and I asked him to sign Eighteen Straight Whiskeys for me, which he did. I then blabbed on to him about how much one of the poems meant to me, as at the time one of them really got to me on a personal level, and he was so sweet and listened so intently to my rambling. I got a pic with him, asked if I could give him a hug and before he walked away asked if he could sign the mug also, since TK did, which he did and I thanked him and he continued around my table. I went back over to Tina's table then and we talked, and I was her picture taker and met her husband Ted again. Sarah Brown, the original Carly on GH, walked in the room (she was lost), so some people met her, I didn't though, just saw she came in. The event winded down, and we had to leave, as another party was coming in, so I went back to my room until the luncheon a few hours later. Thorsten's Hummer was parked right below my window, so I got a pic of that when I went back to the room!
