The PC fan dinner in 2003 was a bittersweet, but definitely not to be missed event. I went to it in 2002, and immediately
knew I'd be back in 2003, it was such a good time. When I bought tickets for 2003, it was months before PC's cancellation.
After the cancellation announcement came, it was wondered, would the event even still take place. It did, and we were told
ahead that because it was the last one, they were inviting all cast members past and present to attend, making it even more
special.
I had attended the Irish Coffee event that afternoon, and had already met Michael and Thorsten. On my walk over to the
main event that night, I passed TK in the parking lot walking with a luggage rack to his Hummer. I got over, got in line,
checked in and went to my table and met up with my friend Danielle. I had bought my raffle tickets and left to go to the
bathroom, and saw Brian Gaskill arriving on my way back in, so that was cool. I went back in and met my friend Kayla, and
then saw Tina walk in, so I went over to her table and we talked some, then the event started. They did dinner, then announced
the raffles. I ended up winning a cute autograph bear (like they have for graduations etc...), it was wearing a nurse's
outfit and was already signed by some of the cast. They soon announced the cast, since there was a LOT of cast members,
past and present, in attendance. The stage had a lot of chairs, so I knew we were in for a good turnout. Marie Wilson, Eddie
Matos, and Erin Hershey Presley came out first to announce their castmates. Everyone came out, and Michael, and Thorsten
weren't there, so people were like, where are they, they said they'd be here. The biggest surprise attendee was Cari Shayne,
the original Karen on GH, and the wife of Alex Mendoza, who was Joe #3 on PC. She was asked if she'd come in with him, and
she agreed, so GH fans were happy to see her. The cast all came out and instead of the usual Q&A, they had each cast
member say a statement individually about PC, or whatever else they wanted to say. During the discussion, cast members would
continue to arrive and they would usually be announced by Debbie Morris, the fan club president. A few people arrived, not
Michael or TK and then finally, with no announcement by Debbie or anyone, in walk Michael and TK, the room absolutely erupted!!
My friend Danielle even hit me and said "There's Michael!!!" Michael walked in with his head down, smiling, but
embarrassed and him and TK went onstage and sat in the back row. They both had changed their shirts from earlier, TK said
they were in the bar watching football. Debbie asked them each to speak, TK said the cancellation was shitty, and Michael
just thanked everyone and said it was the best job he's ever had. After they arrived, they did the fan awards. Michael won
for Favorite Villian. After the awards, they had the actors take their places at their autograph tables. I went to Brian
Gaskill first, then got in line for Michael, as all the lines were so long, but his was one of the longest. He remembered
me from that afternoon when I mentioned I was there, signed the bear I won and we took a pic. I told him I was really looking
forward to OLTL and he said something like he was too, I don't remember exactly how he put it. He was so nice and sweet.
I didn't hold up the line though, since there was a lot of people waiting. After Michael, I went to Brian and Erin Presley
and then after them, my camera battery died and I didn't have another one, or another camera :(( I felt bad I didn't see
more actors, or actors I wouldn't see at other events. I took too many pics while they were onstage, which was a mistake,
since they didn't turn out anyways! This was before I had a digital camera. I talked to Tina some more before I left and
after a bit, I left the ballroom and didn't look back. It was too sad :((( On my way out, I almost started crying, it was
an emotional event, but then ran into a girl who wanted directions to the pool. I saw Kimberlin Brown get her car from
the valet. I continued walking and got to the front parking lot and slowed down--Michael and Ginevra, and Thorsten
were about 10 feet in front of me walking to their cars. I kept my distance behind them, but not too far. Michael told Thorsten
he'd call him, then they each went to their cars. I watched Michael and Ginevra get into their Mercedes convertible and
drive away. I saw Ginevra a couple times around the event, once when Michael introduced her to Marie Wilson. The most
emotional part of the evening was when Debbie Morris read the plaque she was giving to each cast member, and everyone in
attendance stood to give the cast a standing ovation and in turn the cast stood for us. There was some tears in the room
for sure at that point! It was a great event, a great time, and one event I'm definitely glad I didn't miss! It was such
a special night.
